September 2006
After last years disaster, this time using 2 separate antenna systems worked without any problems. On saturday, the weather was quite fair with no rain, occasional sun and low wind, but that changed during the night when rain and strong winds came up. We got quite wet while taking the antennas down. Conditions seemed to be normal with the exception of south-west during selected periods of time, so that we could work ED2EA and EA2RL/P for more than 1000km, and TM8CDX/P from IN94 was very loud, too. Early in the contest, Lars DF1LON was called by ED1OCV IN63 (1300km), but he was too weak to complete the QSO, what a pity. If south-west would not be our worst direction regarding takeoff, perhaps we could have been able to work some more EA. Altogether, the result was way lower as what we had hoped before. Nice to see big activity from SP again, disappointing QSO counts from G, and LX seems to be the new favorite september-contest-holiday-location for PA-stations :-). Working GM4ZUK IO86RW on SSB seems to be possible every time when just the beams would point to each other more often, unfortunately pointing to GM is absolutely worthless regarding the points we can get from there :-(.
